Women Get Road Win over Oxford-Emory
Oxford, GA – The WGTC women's basketball team started quickly and downed the Eagles of Oxford of Emory 72-50 here Tuesday night. After a 20 point outburst in the opening period, the Golden Knights took a 34-28 lead into the break. They pushed that lead to 57-43 after 3 periods and cruised to the final margin.
Coach Alford Williams' squad placed four in double-figures, led by Phyllisse Lewis' 20 points. Chase Parker added 15, followed by 14 from Destiney Zimmerman and 12 from Alexis Henderson. Eriyana Mitchell pulled down 15 boards.
WGTC improves to 5-12 overall. Since Oxford is not playing a league schedule this year, it does not impact the conference record. The Knights can clinch the regular season GCAA Championship with a win over Southern Crescent. The Tigers visit Carrollton on February 19. WGTC returns to action this Saturday when they host Andrew College at 1 pm.
