Golden Knights Off to a Quick Start

Golden Knights Off to a Quick Start

Carrollton, Ga – The West Georgia Tech Men's Basketball Team is off to an impressive start to the 2018-19 campaign. While the season is young, the Knights have been impressive offensively, averaging a blistering 111 points per game. Equally impressive is that the defense is holding opponents to just 61 points per game, a margin of a staggering 50 points per game.

After opening the season last Thursday with a 102-47 win over Pap Academy, the Knights downed New Rock Prep 104-58 Saturday and closed out the 3-game home stand on Monday with a 126-76 win of the Georgia Highland Diamonds.

Kameron Hickey, a 6-5 sophomore guard from Acworth, leads the club with 17.4 points per game.

It is safe to say that the schedule is about to get a little more challenging. Coach Niki Okolovitch's club will hit the road for the first time this year next Monday against rival Southern Crescent Tech. The Tigers have moved up to the Division I level of the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association this season. The two clubs have battled one another over the last several years for dominance in the Division III level. Last year, it was the Tigers who got the best of the Knights, claiming the Tournament Championship after the two clubs split in the regular season. Tip is set for 7 pm.

The Knights return home on Saturday, November 17 to face Sandhills Community College, a national power out of North Carolina. The contest is scheduled for 3 pm at Oak Mountain Academy in Carrollton.
